The Big World Awaits

Martin is learning there is more to his "World" than just tug toys, mean cats and feeding time!
Martin is now almost 4.5 months old and doing great!  He is growing and maturing quite nicely!

He received his shots and is now able to venture out into the WORLD!!  He was able to meet Arnie, the vet's bird!  Though, Arnie didn't talk with Martin that day!

He had his first outing with The Girl and The Grandma to Fred Meyers!  They said he did VERY well!

Of course he drew lot's of attention, which means the good and the bad!
The good, people who understand what you are doing, respectfully chat with you and move on.  The bad, people who approach without asking and immediately start touching your dog.

Exhibit A - The Tri-met bus driver - The Good!
Exhibit B - The Lady - The Bad -
As raisers you come accustomed to all different types of people who want to approach and chat.  You soon learn that you can say "Sorry, not right now, he needs to concentrate"  The Girl will learn to get better at that.

At The Grandmas house Martin is involved in all sorts of activities.  Here he's watching (in amazement) the ball rolling down the slide!  It's so good for Martin to be a part of this.  He just stayed there and watched intently.  He didn't jump for the ball, bark or get overly excited.
While at The Mom and The Girls house Martin got to experience his very first SNOW DAY!!!  Boy was that some exciting stuff!  Look at how adorable this little guy is!

Martin also had some time trying to figure out who the doggie in the mirror was!
We've been attending our puppy meetings.  Some of the pictures are from the meeting at a local library where we worked on loose leash walking.  The other pictures are from an outing to a local veterinary clinic where we were able to work around all sorts of smells and different noises.  We were able to put our dogs on a lift, on a scale and in a kennel.

Martin and his sister Margie were put into the same kennel!
Just some random photos of bath time, snuggle time, has to be close time and just plane ol' adorable-ness.

That's all for this post.

Wish Martin Luck! (14.5 weeks)

NAUGHTY AND NICE!!

It's pretty obvious we haven't posted in quite some time...

Life.  That's all I can say.

Martin is now almost 14 weeks old.  He's doing great!

Martin is spending the majority of his time with The Grandma.  Until he is old enough to go to work with The Mom, he can't spend much time with The Girl.  However, The Girl spends A LOT of time at The Grandmas so she gets to see and work with Martin plenty!

Martin stayed the night last night with The Mom.  The Boy and The Girl were both gone.
Martin is a very gentl soul.  He NEEDS to be close to his people.  His people touching him is even better.  He will take all the love and touch and affection we are willing to give him!

Martin lives (will live) with 2 different cats at 2 different homes.  The cat at The Grandmas house is very easy going, mild tempered, "Lazy" if you will!  He will put up with Martin's nonsense no problem.  The cat at The Mom and The Girls house, that's a different story.  She does not like dogs, and for that matter she doesn't like a DOG taking the attention from The Mom.

She needs to make sure Martin knows she's the "QUEEN" of the house!

Martin was by my side this morning while I was getting ready and he was quite the Mix of "Naughty and Nice"!
*Note to self - Tie the drawstrings of PJ pants when puppy is present!
It's makes it very tough to get ready when said puppy is playing tug with your pants!

Other than that Mr. Martin was very good while I was getting ready for work.

He gets lot's of love at The Grandma's house every day but when he comes to The Mom and Girls house friends and family are always excited to get to love on him!
Needless to say Mr. M is a treasure and we are so excited to get the opportunity to raise another Puppy in Training with The Grandma.

Until next time,

Wish Mr. Martin Luck (14 weeks)

Count down to "M"

Hey everyone,

3 days till puppy "M" is coming home. I'm so excited, our puppy is going to be a boy, and he will be a lab, golden cross. If your not sure what our contribution is for raising this guide dog; we train the puppy the basics like sit, stay, down, "nice", lets go, etc. We also socialize the puppy like taking him to the mall, grocery shopping, friends/family's houses, the park, etc.

This time around The Girl is going to be in charge of writing the posts.  I'll let her tell you all about when, how and where we are getting the new pup.
